Homes sales in the Lehigh Valley increased 15.4 percent to 1,719 in the first six months of 2015

Homes sales in the Lehigh Valley increased 15.4 percent to 1,719 in the first six months of 2015, compared to 1,489 in the first six months of 2014. Median home prices in the first half is $164,900, a 3.1 percent increase from last year’s median home price of $160,000.
Homes sold on average in 68 days in the first quarter of 2015, a 5.6 percent decrease from 2014 where the homes stayed on the market an average of 72 days.
Berks County posted the highest home sales gains in the region compared to 2014, with 2,136 homes sold (+ 13.3 percent), followed by Lehigh (1,719, +15.4 percent) and Northampton (1,532, +10.8 percent). Northampton County posted the highest median price for 2015 at $174,900 (+2.9 percent), followed by Lehigh County at $164,900 (+3.1 percent) and Berks County at $140,000 (-2.1 percent).

In the Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton Area (ABE), homes sales increased 12.1 percent to 1,031 in the first six months of 2015 from 920 in the first half of 2014. Median sale price rose 6.6 percent to $127,900 in the first half of 2015 up from $120,000 the previous year. Homes stayed on the market an average of 79 days in the first half of 2015, up from 78 days in the first six months of 2014, which is a 1.3 percent increase from 2014.
