Homes sales in the Lehigh Valley increased 14.9 percent to 1,282 in the first quarter of 2015

Homes sales in the Lehigh Valley increased 14.9 percent to 1,282 in the first quarter of 2015, compared to 1,116 in the first quarter of 2014. Median home prices in Q1 remained almost identical to the same time last year at $158,250 in 2015, a 0.2 percent increase from last year’s median home price of $158,000.

Homes sold on average in 83 days in the first quarter of 2015, a 5.1 percent increase from 2014 where the homes stayed on the market an average of 79 days.

Berks County posted the highest home sales gains in the region compared to 2014, with 837 homes sold (+ 13.9 percent), followed by Lehigh (682, +12.7 percent) and Northampton (626, +11.2 percent). Northampton County posted the highest median price for 2015 at $160,250 (-0.5 percent), followed by Berks County at $160,000 (+0.6 percent) and Lehigh County at $150,000 (+0.1 percent).

In the Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton Area (ABE), homes sales increased 25.6 percent to 447 in the first quarter of 2015 from 356 in the first quarter of 2014. Median sale price rose 18.9 percent to $119,000 in the first quarter of 2015 up from $100,125 the previous year. Homes stayed on the market an average of 84 days in the first quarter of 2015, up from 80 days in the first quarter of 2014, which is 5 percent increase from 2014.
