13 Students Honored for National Merit Scores
School board recognizes top testing Freedom and Liberty students.
The Bethlehem Area School Board congratulated 13 students Monday evening whose outstanding achievement on the PSAT tests last year gained them recognition from the National Merit Scholar Program.
Out of 1.5 million students nationally who take the test every year, 16,000 were selected as semi-finalists, including Alexa Curto and Grace Mao of , along with Arman Serrado from .
Additionally, three students from Freedom High School were named “commended students”: Shaleen Oza, Abhinav Rangarajan, and Cindy Zheng. From Liberty High School, six earned the honor: Jackson Berlew, Megan Collins, Junro Guo, Edward Hickman, Daniel Luckenbach and Stephanie Mark.

Samuel Caulker, a senior at Liberty High School, was also selected as an Outstanding Participant for the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Those receiving this recognition, about 3,100 out of 160,000 nationally, have scored in the top 3 percent of all those taking the test.
The students were given certificates of recognition for their academic achievements by board vice president William Burkhardt, and congratulated by Superintendent Joseph Roy, along with the rest of the board.
