Life Sized Version of Board Game Guarantees Huge Family Fun

Kids and parents play in a life-sized version of Candy Land on a Saturday afternoon to benefit the Library.

Play in a life-sized version of everyone’s favorite childhood game at the Bethlehem Area Public Library, 11 W. Church Street.  Play Candy Land which has been re-created and enlarged to delight families wishing to take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle. Enjoy delicious refreshments and collect candy while following the rainbow trail past Peppermint Forest, Gingerbread Junction, Gum Drop Mountain and through Caramel Crossing to Snowflake Lake on the giant game board. Illustrator Robyn Bingham reads her new book, Santa Came a Day Late, on the hour. Santa Claus is making a special appearance.

The Candy Land characters will come to life on Saturday, December 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Teens from the Library’s Advisory Board constructed the game. They spent the past two months busily designing and painting each of the game board attractions.

“Children and their parents will be the game pieces on the board which fills an expansive area of the future Children’s Center on the second floor,” said Edana Hoy, Youth Services Department Head.

Admission price is $14.07 per family (maximum of four children). Families with more than four children pay an additional charge of $2.50 per child.

All proceeds benefit the 1407 Fundraising Campaign. The new campaign’s one million dollar goal is to wrap up the Room to Grow project of building an innovative and welcoming new Children's Center at the Main Library.

Pay at the door. Most credit and debit cards accepted. For more information, visit www.bapl.org or phone 610 867-3761 x499.

Convenient parking is available in the garage.
