Catching your family's moments...as they are

I am sure you have heard the term "lifestyle Photography" or "photojournalism"...But what is all the buzz about?

Lifestyle photography to me simply means capturing the real moments in my family's life or the lives of my clients.  Perhaps it's a shot of your kids doing sidewalk chalk, or their soapy toes in a bubble bath.  It's catching them in the moment, not looking at you, or not being told to say "cheese."  It is simply a second in their lives, captured forever, as they are...

So what are some good ways to get these shots?  Always have your camera!  And for some ideas try catching them in these situations:

  • Sporting events (especially the siblings not involved, rolling down hills, picking dandelions etc)
  • Visits from Grandma/Grandpa (zoom in on their hands together as they play a game)
  • Playground time (swinging or sliding shots are the best, catch their hair in motion)
  • Storytime (snuggling shots are the cutest)
  • Morning time ( grab a shot of their faces right before they wake up, hair sticking straight up)
  • Snacktime (messy faces and all)

After all, when you look back...these are the moments you will want to remember!

Happy shootin'
