City of Bethlehem Fire Department Requests Fire Hydrants to be Accessible

The City of Bethlehem’s Fire Chief, Warren Achey, is requesting citizen’s assistance in helping ensure that fire hydrants are accessible.

The City of Bethlehem Fire Department is asking those residents and property owners who have a fire hydrant near their home or business to clear it of snow following storms this winter. Trying to locate a fire hydrant that is buried significantly delays fire crews from putting water on a fire.

The Fire Department recommends shoveling 3-feet of clearance all the way around the fire hydrant with clear access to the street. This gives enough room for firefighters to hook up hose to the hydrant and open the hydrant safely.
