Coroner: City Inspector Died of Natural Causes

Al Calvo, 58, collapsed at a construction site at Lehigh University on Thursday.

A city construction inspector who died in what had been termed an accident actually died of natural causes, the Lehigh County Coroner said today.

Al Calvo, 58, was working at Lehigh University’s Rauch Business Center, inspecting a storm sewer connection from work being done, when he fell into a construction hole in the street on Taylor Street near Packer Avenue.

But an autopsy performed this morning revealed that the death was not the result of any kind of trauma. “It was strictly a medical event,” said Scott Grim, the Lehigh County coroner.
