As Digital Signs are becoming cheaper and cheaper to install, we are seeing more and more of them popping here and there. First, we saw digital billboards. Now we see small businesses adding digital reader boards to their signs. It is a nuisance to residents who live in these neighborhoods and have to look at these digital signs whether it is during business hours or not. Digital signs are far more distracting and harder to ignore than static ones. When we walk or drive past buildings with digital reader boards, they don't give us the option shut them off. You can't escape them, therefore it adds more visual pollution. We should not allow electronic, digital signs in residential neighborhoods. In areas were we have mixed use, commercial and residential, than the signs should be designed in the best interest of all the people who live in work in that neighborhood. Have you sign designed by a professional and make sure it is not causing any visual pollution.
