29th Annual Toy Run to Benefit Volunteers of America Children's Center and Turning Point Lehigh Valley

In support of the 29^th Annual Toy Run to benefit Volunteers of America Children’s Center and Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, four local businesses have joined forces. Burkholder’s HVAC, Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, Equinox and Prudential Patt White Real Estate have teamed up to promote the event in a groundbreaking way. In addition to opening their doors as toy drop-off locations, the coalition of companies will demonstrate their devotion to the cause by riding Harley Davidsons as a group along the Toy Run route. 

The November 17 event is sponsored by Lehigh Valley Chapter of Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education (A.B.A.T.E.), so the alliance of companies is asking all motorcycle-riding employees and clients to come out and join in the goodwill. For nearly 30 years, Lehigh Valley residents have been spreading holiday cheer among less fortunate children through the Toy Run. The event collects toys, gifts and cash donations to brighten the holidays for children who would otherwise go without presents. Among the four participating businesses, easily accessible gift drop-off locations are available in Emmaus, Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Macungie and Coopersburg.

“Serving as a toy collection location was a great way to get involved in this worthy cause, but we and the other companies wanted to go one step further by taking action and riding in the event,” says Bob Burkholder, President of Burkholder’s HVAC. “We’re excited to be riding together, and we encourage our employees, customers, neighbors and friends to not only make donations but also to come out and ride along with us.” In addition to participating in the Toy Run event, Burkholder’s will also be donating $5 for every $65 inspection scheduled before the end of November 2012.

Toy Run organizers ask that all donations be new toys, appropriate for children 10 and under. All gifts are welcome except for stuffed toys, and as always monetary donations will be graciously accepted. Volunteers interested in taking part in the Toy Run should meet at Dorney Park, Hamilton Blvd. & Lincoln Ave., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 17. The caravan is scheduled to leave Dorney Park promptly at noon and proceed to the Volunteers of America Children’s Center in Allentown and Turning Point of Lehigh Valley. While all types of automobiles are welcome to attend, volunteers with motorcycles are asked to bring their bikes.
