Cambiata, the Lehigh Valley's own early music ensemble, is performing this Saturday morning, May 7, at 10 am at the Ice House, Sand Island, Bethlehem. The show, "All Around the Maypole," is part of the Saturday's Child series. Cost for the show is $5. There is an optional workshop following the performance, with a demonstration of the Renaissance instruments and a special Maypole Dance that will be taught. Cost for the show and the workshop combination is $7.50.
Performing in costume and playing period instruments, Cambiata will transport you and your children to another time and place, with songs, dance tunes, and poetry that usher in spring. Selections are from 16th and 17th century Europe and are performed on lute, viols, recorders, and krumhorns. Cambiata members include: Sara Cox, Ruth Maletz, Ilse Zinnes, and Bill Thatcher. Joining Cambiata for this performance is soprano vocalist Nathania Young.
