A church under threat because of its pacifism, church members refusing to take up arms because of religious principles: these stories about Moravians during the American Revolution are familiar. But new research has revealed different stories that deserve to be told—about Moravians who served, about patriot militias who persecuted their Moravian neighbors and the patriot elites who tried to protect them, and about a church quietly supplying arms to the patriot cause.
