From 4 to 6 p.m., charming master waltz instructor Gaye Fifer from Pittsburgh will teach figures, flourishes, and happy maneuvers for waltzing for dancers who have the basic step down already.
For those who want to stay & socialize, a pot luck dinner follows from 6 to 7 p.m. Then the customary lesson for newcomers to contra dancing will be from 7 to 7:30. The lesson, the guidance of a dance caller, and the simple walking step enable you to enjoy it right away. To see and hear a contra dance, go to www.contrausa.com or search for contra dance on U-Tube.

Informal, sociable, aerobic partner dancing to live acoustic music. The figures are called by a caller, but unlike club squares, there are no costumes and we welcome newcomers. Our event draws about 85 dancers from the Lehigh Valley, Wilkes Barre, Harrisburg, Elverson, Glenside, western NJ, and Delaware. In operation for 15 years in Bethlehem, we were recognized with the Bethlehem Arts Commission's Tribute to the Arts award for an arts organization in 2009. You don't need to bring a partner; amiable partners are plentiful on-site.
