What is the Wings of Hope – A Butterfly Release?
It is a celebration of life where community members gather to honor and remember loved ones touched by cancer. The event includes entertainment, crafts and refreshments. The culmination of the event is the release of 250 monarch butterflies. It is a beautiful site!
The proceeds from this event go directly to Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley which provided free programs of support, education and hope to those with cancer and their loved ones here in our community.
How can I get involved?
Create a team with friends, family and co-workers to honor and/or remember loved ones in your life affected by cancer. Teams get a personalized website and have the ability to fundraise online. Teams can be of any size and each team commits to fundraise (at least $500) and receives their own curtain and butterflies to decorate and hang. You can add your own pictures, poems, testimonials, etc. Each curtain will be displayed at the Wings of Hope Butterfly Release.
Tell potential team members about your cause and ask them to support you by helping to raise funds toward your goal. Have them register on our website with your team. They will be set up with their own personal fundraising page too!
Your friends and family can buy seeded, die-cut butterflies that will be displayed on your curtain. After the event, these can be taken home and planted and will grow into butterfly attracting flowers.
Team fundraising levels
$500 – Your team will be able to design and decorate your own 26”x70” curtain panel for the event. This comes with 50 butterflies on which you can put names of your friends, family or co-workers affected by cancer. Teams will be listed in our program book and on our website.
$1000 – Along with the benefits of the $500 level, your team will have their own curtain with 100 butterflies and you will also be invited to open a box of butterflies at the event for the release.
There will be awards for teams including the best decorated curtain and the top fundraising team.
