Facing Criminal Charges, City 911 Dispatcher Quits

Ashley Wenbourn, accused of drunk driving and filing false sexual assault report, resigns her city emergency dispatching job.

 

A Bethlehem 911 dispatcher who was charged with lying to police and tampering with evidence has resigned her city job, according to a report in The Morning Call, which quoted a city source.

Ashley Jolynn Wenbourn is charged in connection to near her home in West Bethlehem, which began with her allegedly driving drunk and crashing a car into a fence on February 25, according to court records.

After she was processed for the drunk driving charge and sent home to Valley Park South in a taxi, she called the police desk to report that she had been the victim of a sexual assault prior to the drunk driving incident.

Wenbourn is accused of lying about the assault and also deleting text messages to her boyfriend, which she allegedly sent while he was being interviewed by police, after she had been told by police that her phone was to be confiscated as evidence, according to court records.
