Giving back never retires at Traditions of Hanover

Giving back never retires. At Traditions of Hanover, residents are regularly introduced to local nonprofits and service organizations, gaining insight into important work taking place throughout the area and discovering new ways to contribute their time and talents.

Traditions of Hanover has long cultivated relationships with groups that enrich the lives of others, providing residents with opportunities to remain involved beyond the community’s walls. Through volunteer efforts, educational programs, and civic participation, residents continue to pursue their interests, share their experiences, and make meaningful connections with those around them.

Executive Director Cathy Heimsoth said,

“We believe that community is more than where you live—it's how you live and whom you spend your time with. Our culture encourages residents to form lasting friendships, support one another, and remain actively connected to the world around them, creating an environment where everyone can thrive.”

One way that philosophy is put into practice is by introducing residents to organizations serving individuals and families across the area. Most recently, the management team organized a visit with staff from Equi-librium, a nonprofit dedicated to healing through horses.

Residents received an overview of the organization’s mission and how equine-assisted services are improving the lives of individuals facing physical, developmental, and behavioral challenges. They also interacted with Star, a specially trained miniature horse used in outreach programs.

Nestled on an 18-acre historic farm in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Equi-librium provides healing through horses by implementing equine-assisted services to help individuals with physical, developmental, and behavioral challenges. Equi-librium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing individuals the opportunity to reach their highest potential through the benefits of horse-related activities. Equi-librium holds a Premier Accreditation from the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International and serves over 100 individuals of all ages each and every week. In addition to programs held at the farm - including equine-assisted movement, adaptive riding and horsemanship, and therapeutic driving - Equi-librium is committed to accessibility and community outreach through our Mobile Miniature Horse Outreach program, which allows us to bring the benefits of equine-assisted services into community settings.

Equi-librium is one example of the many organizations Traditions of Hanover works with throughout the year. Other partnerships have included Meals on Wheels, The Bag of Hope, the Alzheimer’s Association, and students from Moravian University, helping residents take part in a wide range of service projects, educational and intergenerational programs, fundraising, and other charitable efforts.
