Grab & Go: Red Cross Month, Library Book Sale

This week’s picks will take you from stormy weather to sunny streets lined with shamrocks.  March is Red Cross Month, offering free community programs on CPR, weather safety and emergency preparedness at the LV Mall and the Strong Moms Strong Girls workshop. Celtic Fest hosts the Parade of Shamrocks, Sesame Street live comes to Temple and March madness takes hold at the Bethlehem Public Library,

• RED CROSS MONTH, WEATHER SAFETY FOR KIDS ()

Why Go: Meet Channel 69 Meteorologist Mark Shanaberger for a kid-friendly, fun and interactive program about how to stay safe when weather is at its worst. Floods, lighting and tornadoes, oh my!

• STRONG MOMS STRONG GIRLS WORKSHOP (JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LEHIGH VALLEY)

Where/When: American Red Cross of the Lehigh Valley, 2200 Avenue A, Bethlehem, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Why Go: Because you are a strong mom raising a strong 4 -5^th grade daughter. This is an interactive mother/daughter workshop: Figuring out Friendships and Confronting Relational Aggression. With bullying on the rise, girls need all the information they can get to empower them to engage in healthy relationships with peers.

• PARADE OF SHAMROCKS (CELTIC FEST)

Where/When: Parade route, 6^th and Broad Street to Main , Saturday 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Get your green on and kick-off St. Patty’s week with floats, pipes, bands and a bit of Irish dancing.

Pricing: Parade is Free, arrive early for a good seats.

Where/When: Liacouras Center at Temple, 5150 1776 North Broad Street Philadelphia, Saturday 10:30 a.m, 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Sunday at 5:30 a.m.

Why Go: Sunny days, chasing the clouds away. . . I can tell you how to get to Sesame street by way of Philadelphia. Why Go: If you’ve gone to Border’s clearance sale and were disappointed at the long lines and the measly 25% discount, you won’t be disappointed by the March Madness booksale.  Prices are super cheap, volunteers are helpful and the selection of new or gently used books is great.
