Great Escape: Battlefield B&B at Gettysburg

Don't let romance be 'Gone With The Wind'

“Take a good look my dear. It's an historic moment you can tell your grandchildren about - how you watched the Old South fall one night.” said Rhett Butler to Scarlet in the classic 1939 Civil War romance movie.

As the Civil War comes up on its 150th anniversary commemorating the  Battle at Gettysburg, this week’s Great Escape takes couples to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where the Union Cavalry and Confederate Infantry fought during the Civil War.

If the walls of the 8 room Fieldstone Farmhouse could talk, they would echo the sounds of 1000’s of soldiers and horses galloping across the South Cavalry Battlefield during Pickett’s Charge. This is a real honest to goodness Civil War house a stone’s throw away from the 30 acres of sacred and hallowed ground. Rooms have all of the charm of a country cottage in the mid 1800’s and include the modern amenities of satellite television, Wi-Fi access and a private bath en suite.
