Lady Crusaders Topple Saucon Valley

Third quarter run leads to victory in first game of season

The lady Crusaders basketball team went on a 16-8 third quarter run and never looked back as it posted a 49-40 victory at Saucon Valley in its first game of the season Tuesday night.

At the start, both Notre Dame Green Pond and Saucon Valley seemed to be suffering from opening night jitters. In a first quarter filled with steals, bobbled balls and other turnovers, the Panthers jumped out to an early 13-11 lead. The half would end in a 21-21 tie.

Though the teams would play more evenly in the fourth quarter, Notre Dame's third quarter rally was too much to overcome for Saucon Valley, which fell to 0-2 on the season.
