Lehigh University hosts 10th annual food fight between rival schools

Four schools faced off this month during Chefs' Fare, a longstanding culinary tradition in Lehigh Valley.

Four schools faced off this month during Chefs’ Fare, a longstanding culinary tradition in Lehigh Valley, a competition which began more than ten years ago between Lehigh University, Moravian College, DeSales University, and Muhlenberg College.

On December 2, chefs from each school competed in an Olympic Games-themed event featuring classic regional cuisines of the Italy, India, Mexico and the United States.

Over 800 students gathered at Cort Dining Room at Lehigh University where they sampled the dishes and voted for their favorite foods/team.

“While this is a true competition, the opportunity to build culinary synergy among our campus chefs in our tight Lehigh Valley geography is a huge bonus,” said Todd Snyder, District Manager, Sodexo Campus Services.

All food was scratch-made, house-made, and authentically prepared featuring local, sustainable products.

Defending champion Lehigh University Dining won the competition with its Italian meal of Grilled Chicken Parmesan, Heirloom Red Spinach Salad, Cavatelli alla Vodka, Fresh Garlic Pesto Knots, and Traditional Tiramisu.

“Our strategy is really very simple - although I believe that we all strive to be the best, what really drives our team is our passion for great food,” said Executive Chef David Casey of Lehigh University Dining.
