Broughal Shines Light on After School Programs
"Lights on Afterschool" parade, rally will feature students' art and community school video.

As many as 250 students, teachers, parents and community residents are expected to form a glowing procession as they walk from to SteelStacks along the this Thursday evening as part of the national Lights On Afterschool rally for after-school programs.
The Broughal Middle School Marching Band will head the parade, to be lit by participants carrying glowsticks, and partners in the Broughal Community School Initiative, including the , , and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley will also take part.
There will be a special presentation when the group reaches SteelStacks, and the blast furnaces will be lit blue and gold, Broughal's official school colors.

An exhibition of works of students in the ArtsQuest B-smart after-school program, along with the premiere of the Broughal Community School Video, created by Broughal students, will be shown.
The parade is set to begin at Broughal at 6 p.m., and the portion of the event is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The 12th annual Lights On Afterschool, set for Oct. 20, is an initiative of the Afterschool Alliance, which advocates for funding and support for after school programs for children.
