Local Applebee's raises $2,000 for Nieman-Pick Disease through "Ride for Adam"
Over $2,000 raised by local Applebee's
On Aug. 16, the Allentown Applebee’s helped raise more than $2,000 through the “Ride for Adam,” a benefit poker ride & family picnic, to generate stronger awareness and find a cure for the Nieman-Pick Disease.
The Allentown Applebee’s – in conjunction with six other local Applebee’s including Quakertown, Nazareth, Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown, and Trexlertown – contributed half of the total amount of funds raised. In addition to donating, the Allentown Applebee’s proudly sponsored this event and volunteered to help 12-year-old, Adam Recke, in his fight against a rare disease called Nieman-Pick Type C. More than 700 local residents and 300 motorcyclists participated this year by enjoying the following activities and highlights:
• Six live bands such as “The Aardvarks”
• A family-style picnic and kids area with crafts & face painting
• A food and beer tent that Applebee’s helped operate
• The Poker Ride – where participants either rode their motorcycles, walked or watched from the sidelines
