Miller Heights Elementary Unveils Mural

Glass mural at Bethlehem Township school was inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.

Students at in Bethlehem Township earlier this month celebrated the unveiling of a permanent 12-foot by 4-foot ceramic and glass mural. The mosaic mural was inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream."

Designed to promote the feeling of a friendly and safe learning environment, the central portion of each colorful three-panel mosaic depicts children engaged in the liberal arts, fine arts, performing arts or sciences. In a fanciful frieze across the bottom of the mosaics are autumn leaves, pumpkins, snowflakes, ice skates, valentines and other timeless images of the changing seasons and holidays throughout the school year. The outside of each mosaic is a frame of tiles made by students and staff on which they have written their dreams and hopes for the future.
