School Maintenance to Cost District $70,000

The Bethlehem Area School Board accepted low bids for the replacement of a air handler and condenser unit at Freemansburg Elementary School and a water heater at Fountain Hill Elementary at a special meeting Monday evening.

J.B.M. Mechanical of Nazareth submitted the lowest bid for the condenser unit at $18,900, and Blanski Inc. of Reading, Pa., will be replacing the water heater at a cost of $52,800 to the district.

Both projects will be paid for out of the district's general fund from the construction services account, which currently has a balance of $232,352, according to district records.

The equipment is expected to be installed in time for the coming school year, and it will replace old, worn machines, district engineering officials have previously said.
