Solas to Play Concert at Celtic Classic

Highly influential and very popular Celtic style band to headline at annual festival.

The Celtic Cultural Alliance has announced that Solas will perform an exclusive concert on Saturday, September 24th at during this year's Celtic Classic.

Solas has been loudly proclaimed as the most popular, influential, and exciting Celtic band to ever emerge from the United States since they formed in 1996.

Described by the Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine as creating “mind-blowing Irish folk music, maybe the world’s best," the band is composed of founders Seamus Egan, who plays flute, tenor banjo, mandolin, whistle, guitar and bodhran; and fiddler Winifred Horan. Mick McAuley from Kilkenny plays accordion and concertina while Eamon McElholm from Tyrone plays guitar and keyboards.

Jayne Ann Recker, executive director of the Celtic Cultural Alliance says she is happy to have them at this year’s festival.

"With the outstanding support we've received from the community and from our sponsors we are looking forward to Solas kicking off this year's festival."

McPeake will be the opening act at 6:30 pm followed by Solas at 8:30 pm. It is a general seating concert with a limited amount of tickets available. Tickets are $10 each and are available online or by calling the main office at 610-868-9599.

The 2011 Celtic Classic will take place Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25. It is the largest Celtic-themed festival in North America. For more information regarding Solas and this year's Celtic Classic check out their website or facebook page.
