Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are proud to announce that they have extended the contract of Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Chris Thompson. The man at the helm of the Steelhawks Indoor Football team has led them to two consecutive playoff seasons, including a 7-5 regular season record in 2013, the teams first in the PIFL.
"My family and I can't thank Mike and Glenn Clark enough for this great opportunity to continue to lead the Steelhawks moving forward and again in 2014. We have some really exciting things on the horizon and can't wait to announce some of them in the coming weeks and months,” stated Thompson. "2013 was no doubt our best season yet in our short three year history. We accomplished so much both on and off the field and we have a lot to look forward to as we prepare and game plan for 2014. I am excited to be coming back and staying a part of the Black and Vegas Gold family, in hopes that we can pick up where we left off and fulfill our ultimate goal of winning our first ever League Championship. We know we have a tough task on our hands as we found out the PIFL is very competitive along with the fact that we moved up quite a few guys for the second year in a row during and after our season, but the coaching staff and front office are looking forward to the challenge. We will be back with a vengeance and looking for ways to continue moving forward while continuing to bring affordable family fun entertainment to the Lehigh Valley."
Thompson originally came to the Steelhawks at the beginning of 2012 after previously assuming the Head Coaching role with the Reading Express. As a Head Coach, he has yet to miss the playoffs. He also assumes the role of Assistant General Manager for the franchise, focusing on acquiring new performance partners, generating group sales, and will be leading a new youth indoor football league this coming season.

“It was a no-brainer retaining Thompson to lead our team,” stated Steelhawks General Manager Mike Clark. “Since his arrival we have achieved new heights on the field, while also growing as a business off of it. We have many new and exciting things coming up for this organization, and we truly believe Chris will get us that PIFL Championship trophy sooner rather than later. We have already begun the process of recruiting a high caliber, high character team for 2014 and we can’t wait to strap the pads back on.”
