Viewfinder: Alison Krauss and Union Station

Bluegrass artist brings angelic vocals and fiddle to the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest.

Picture this ... Alison Krauss, her full, blonde hair blowing in the breeze as she picked up her fiddle and began her opening song, "Paper Airplane," which was released on her latest album "Paper Airplane" in April 2011.

Dan Tyminski (guitar, mandolin and lead vocals) followed Krauss with another new release, "Dustbowl Children" drowning the crowd with his rich, folky voice.

One could have sat for hours listening to the honey-like vocals of Krauss as she sang like an angel with the stars shining above the Sands Steel Stage.

In addition to the melodic singing offered by Krauss and her band, Union Station, notes rang from the mandolin, banjo, bass, guitar, and keyboard.

Applause erupted in the audience as Jerry Douglas effortlessly played the Dobro in a solo stint between sets.
