Viewfinder: The World's Largest Swimming Lesson
Bethlehem Memorial Pool joined aquatic centers across the world to set a new world record.
A few dozen Bethlehem residents gathered next to the sparkling on Illick's Mill Road on Tuesday, June 14, as a world record was about to be set. According to the official "World's Largest Swimming Lesson" Facebook page, the goal has been accomplished.
The latest update stated:
"Congratulations!!! It’s official, everyone that participated in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson today is a Guinness World Record holder! We’re still working on final counts and will keep verifying until we know we have included everyone that is sending in their materials. Thanks so much for all your hard work! Team... WLSL Rocks!! Photos and more updates to follow. What a great day!!!"

The goal of the event was to promote aquatic safety and the importance of swimming lessons for children. The goal was to have 10,000 children simultaneously receiving swimming lessons on four continents.
The official website has yet to record the final figures.
