Windiest Day Since Superstorm Sandy
Bitter cold expected overnight, but things will warm up heading into the weekend.
Thursday was the windiest day in the region since Superstorm Sandy hit almost two years ago.
Official readings at Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday showed sustained winds of 25 mph, with gusts of up to 46 mph. In Newtown Square, gusts of up to 58 mph were recorded.
Those numbers indicate the highest sustained winds since Superstorm Sandy blew into town on Oct. 29, 2012, The Philadelphia Inquirer said.

After highs in the 60s in the earlier part of the week, it got bitterly cold Thursday, with lows in the teens expected overnight. Friday will be slightly warmer, the National Weather Service said, with highs in the 40s, while Saturday will bring highs in the mid 50s.
