Gladwyne Montessori Adds 7th and 8th Grades

As Gladwyne Montessori begins it's 50th anniversary year, I am proud to announce that the Gladwyne Montessori Board of Trustees and the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) have approved the addition of 7th and 8th grade to our remarkable community of learning.

Adolescence is a period of physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth. While it can be tumultuous, it should also be a time of self-reflection and discovery. By providing an environment where inquiry and exploration are encouraged and academic excellence is understood, Gladwyne Montessori will offer students a singular opportunity to experience Middle School the Montessori way, with a program designed specifically to meet the changing needs of the adolescent.

Our curriculum ensures that every student learns and every member of the classroom community is held to high expectations.  Students in Gladwyne Montessori’s middle school program will benefit from:

We are thrilled to introduce our new Middle School Head Teacher, David Shin. Mr. Shin comes to us from Richmond Montessori in Virginia where he has taught for the last five years in a Montessori middle school program he helped design. David brings with him a contagious energy and enthusiasm for this new venture, an understanding of the unique developmental needs of the adolescent and…most importantly a love for this age group!

Since its founding as a pre-school in the fall of 1962, Gladwyne Montessori has been a pioneer in providing beyond ordinary Montessori education to students on the Main Line and beyond. Over the last 50 years, the program has changed dramatically with the addition of classes for Parent-Toddler, two year olds, 1st through 3rd grades, then 4th through 6th. With the decision to add 7th and 8th grades, our visionary Board of Trustees has made it possible to fulfill another long-held objective of the school.
