Bryn Mawr Hospital Charges $63 For 1 Oz Of Oil: Report

The hospital used it to help rotate an unborn baby to avoid a breech birth. At that price, a liter of olive oil would cost about $2,000.

BRYN MAWR, PA – A couple who had their first child recently found a rather odd charge on their medical bill: $63 for olive oil.

According to Philly.com, Elana Baurer and Drew Kotler welcomed their first child in August and the married Philadelphia couple recently learned of the pricey oil.

The oil was used to help rotate their unborn baby so Baurer could have a traditional birth and avoid a cesarean section as the baby was breech.

It cost them $63 for that oil, which was about an ounce, per Philly.com

At that rate, a liter of oil would cost about $2,132, the outlet reports.

"I would have brought my own," Baurer told Philly.com. "We certainly don't pay $63 for our own olive oil."

According to Philly.com, Baurer still ended up getting a c-section.
