Bryn Mawr's Cerise Craft Steakhouse Closing

The steakhouse will close its doors this weekend, however it will host a few special dinner events after its official closing date.

BRYN MAWR, PA – A Bryn Mawr steakhouse is closing its doors this weekend after five years.

Cerise Craft Steakhouse in Bryn Mawr will serve its last meals on Saturday Jan. 12, the restaurant announced on social media.

However, chef and owner Ben Thomas said this isn't the true end of Cerise.

"This is the last week of normal operation, and then we will have several classic Cerise tasting menu Saturdays," Thomas posted on the restaurant's Facebook page. He also said he will continue to cater cook for private events.

There are two special prix fixe dinner events planned for January. See details on those below.

Thomas said the decision to close the eatery came after a conversation with his young son, who told Thomas he wanted to "cook and be with daddy," a noble reason to close shop.

"The past five years have been a whirlwind blur," he said. "That you selected me three times as Best Chef on the Main Line, and to have won numerous BYOB awards, was beyond my highest expectations."

Cerise was initially a French cuisine-inspired spot, but in August 2018 Thomas switched things up to center his menu around sustainable steaks.
