Cradles to Crayons
Harcum College President's Cabinet volunteered at a local charity for impoverished and homeless children.

The President’s Cabinet consists of senior level staff members who offer strategic and tactical guidance in the affairs of the college. To show support for the Centennial’s 100 Acts of Service, these administrators volunteered on June 10 at Cradles to Crayons. This non-profit provides children from birth to age 12, living in low-income and homeless situations, with the essential items needed to thrive - at home, at school, and at play. They supply the items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need.
The group of seven spent two hours sorting clothes by gender, size, and quality to make clothing bundles for children in need. Part of the group also cleaned and repaired toys, while the rest of the group ensured that puzzles, games, and toys had all the parts and pieces they needed.
Claudine Vita, Executive Director of Human Resources commented, “We learned that Philadelphia is the second poorest city in the United States, next to Detroit. This had a profound impact on all of us - knowing that so many unfortunate children and families live off of under $11,000 per year, right in our back yard!”
