Former Main Line Commissioner Waives Preliminary Hearing In Indecent Assault Case​

Spingler appeared in a Newtown Square district court Thursday morning for his preliminary hearing.

Former Radnor Township Commissioner William Spingler waived his preliminary hearing Thursday morning at a Newtown Square District Court and will move his charges to trial, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Spingler appeared before Magisterial District Judge Leon Hunter Thursday morning to answer to three indecent assault of a person with a mental disability charges that were filed after employees at the Wayne Nursing Home allegedly found Spingler fondling a 10-3-year-old dementia patient's chest in mid to late December.

Spingler's waiver means his three indecent assault of a person with a mental disability charges will be held for trial.

Spingler and his attorney James Michael Pierce, Esq waived the preliminary hearing, prompting Hunter to send the case to the Commons Pleas court in Media to be formally arraigned on Feb. 1, the Times reports.

Spingler was arrested on Dec. 23 after staff at the nursing home claimed to have seen Spingler's hand up the elderly woman's shirt on Dec. 15, Dec. 17, and Dec. 23.

Spingler was arraigned on Dec. 23 by Hunter and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Earlier this week, Radnor Township Manager Robert Zienkowski said at a press conference that more charges could be filed against Spingler and that he hopes Delaware County prosecutors can take over the case.
