Gladwyne Elementary Third-Grader Has Whooping Cough, LMSD Reports
The Montgomery County Health Department informed the school district of the "laboratory-confirmed" diagnosis, according to a letter to parents posted online.

Laboratory tests have diagnosed pertussis, or "whooping cough", in a Gladwyne Elementary School third-grader, the Lower Merion School District announced Wednesday in a letter on its website.
The Montgomery County Health Department notified the school district of the diagnosis this week. The respiratory disease "can be serious in children up to seven years of age and in those who are not completely immunized against the disease," according to the district's letter, a copy of which is attached to this article.
The announcement does not describe the student's medical condition. Two LMSD students, a fourth-grader and an 11th-grader, contracted pertussis in October.
