Harcum to Host 80 Upward Bound Students
Harcum College is helping high school students to prepare for college.

The Harcum campus will be lively again as we welcome 80 high school students to the Upward Bound program on June 28. For six weeks these students live, learn, and experience life like a college student. Their simulated college experience will prepare them and hopefully encourage them to continue their education beyond high school.
The Upward Bound program is a year-round commitment, with the college experience being just one part. During the academic year, students spend two to three Saturdays a month at Harcum completing developmental sessions. Topics covered are designed to strengthen students’ academic preparation, develop their communication skills, prepare them to take standardized tests, and familiarize them with the college admission process.
A counselor from the program also visits the student’s high school bi-weekly. The counselor works closely with the students to help them prepare for their college and career searches. Also, the counselor serves as a resource to identify tutors should students require additional assistance. Students in the program work hard and strive to meet the goals of the program.
Upward Bound is a federally funded program, with services free to student who meet the eligibility guidelines. To learn more about the program and find out if your eligible, contact 610-526-6151 or visitharcum.edu/upwardbound.
