Harriton Transfer Has Been Productive

Chris Morris has the kind of attitude coach Matt Barr likes. A transfer from Penn Charter, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound junior has played some safety and outside linebacker, and shown he has a knack for finding the ball and ballcarriers. He’s the Rams' leading tackler through first two games, and he came up with a key interception in Harriton’s  last Friday.  

“Chris fills the run really well; he comes up and hits people, he’s a sure tackler, and we haven’t had that here in a little while,” Barr said. “What I really like about Chris is he picks things up and you can tell him anything, and he takes it right in. He’s a hardnosed, respectful kid. I want more kids like Chris, I want a tougher team, a handful more of kids like him. As a team, we have to become tougher mentally and physically. I saw a few things I liked what we did against Springfield, but I saw a lot of terrible things. We had plenty of opportunities to make plays.”

Harriton visits winless, though dangerous, Radnor this Friday at 7 p.m.

“Our kids need to make plays, smart plays, football plays,” Barr said. “We have a very good quarterback, Pat Moriarty throws a great ball, but he has to make more football plays. When he does that, he’ll be a Division I quarterback. Pat is the most talented quarterback in the Central League by far, and no one throws a better, more accurate ball than Pat. Pat has to think with the mentality of moving the chains, not to make a big play and score every time. We need to think more about sustaining drives.”
