Drexel Swim Club manager Michael McCloskey and club member Diane Dydak helped revive a toddler who went underwater in August.

MARPLE TWP., PA — Marple Township officials honored two people Monday night for saving a toddler boy after he went underwater at Drexel Swim Club in August.
Marple Township commissioners honored pool manager Michael McCloskey of Broomall and club member Diane Dydak of Drexel Hill at their meeting Monday.
Dydak, who is a nurse, and McCloskey helped revive a 21-month-old named Connor on August 19, ABC6 reported.

Janice Meehan, a board member at the Swim Club, told Patch that Dydak, who was in the baby pool with her own children, screamed for help when she saw Connor was underwater. McCloskey was in the office, directly next to the baby pool.
"(Mike) heard the scream and rushed to help," Meehan said.

Dydak lifted Connor out of the pool and McCloskey started chest compressions, ABC6 reported. The toddler was not breathing after Dydak pulled him out, but she and McCloskey were able to revive him, according to ABC6.
The day after, August 20, was McCloskey's last day working at the pool.
Meehan said the other lifeguards at Drexel Swim Club often stay after hours to play with kids at the pool. A number of guards were there that day, and rushed to Connor's aid as well.
"Our guards are very involved with the members," she said. "Every guard ran over to help."
