New Fragrance Collection Marks Harcum's 100th
Scents Created in Chemistry Class To Raise Scholarship Money

Bryn Mawr, PA – June 15, 2015 – Notes of lavender, oakmoss, raspberry, and leather are some of the perfume elements used in a new fragrance collection created for Harcum College’s Centennial Celebration in 2015.
A Scentennial Fragrance Collection honoring Harcum’s past, present, and future were created by Dr. Alexandra Hilosky and students in her General Chemistry Class. They are being sold at campus events to raise funds for a new Centennial scholarship. Each fragrance is sold in an atomizer yielding 20 sprays and comes with its own signature perfume card.

The fragrance named EDITH was made to honor Harcum’s past and includes lavender and aldehylic undertones. HaacH is a scent for men with notes of pear and sandalwood and represents Harcum’s present since Harcum became a coed institution in 2003. Ursa Rising is the student formulation in the collection and contains notes of orange and raspberry.
Hilosky, who travels to France during the summer to study perfume making with a French perfumier, is a member of the Centennial Planning Committee, and conceived the project as a way to raise thousands in scholarship dollars. She and her husband donated all the ingredients and atomizers. Each atomizer sells for $10 and will be sold at numerous on-campus events this fall including the Bears & Squares Preview Party on Thursday, September 10, at the 100 Years of Art Juried Show Opening on Thursday, September 17, and Homecoming BearFest on Saturday, September 10.
