On Saturday, June 7th Riverbend Environmental Education Center will be hosting their 40th Anniversary celebration. From 11:00am-2:00pm everyone is invited to come to Riverbend and enjoy a variety of activities for children as well as adults. For 40 years Riverbend has provided hands-on environmental education programs for children in the Philadelphia Region.
Event goers can stomp and explore the stream, enjoy a Riverbend historical retrospective and participate in a special scavenger hunt for kids. Riverbend’s local animal residents will join the fun throughout the event, music will fill the air and there will also be an opportunity for community members to get up close to an Aquaponics greenhouse model. At 11:30am Riverbend’s Executive Director, Laurie Bachman, will lead a behind the scenes tour of the property and at 1:00 there will be a small formal program including remarks from Lower Merion Township Commissioner Elizabeth Rogan, an announcement of Riverbend’s Nature Essay and Art Contest Winners and The Philadelphia Eagles mascot, Swoop, will pick the winning ticket for their amazing Eagles raffle basket.
Although guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, thanks to Whole Foods Market, light refreshments will also be available. This event is free and open to everyone to come and celebrate 40 years of growing greener children.
