Shipley School Student Missing After Car Found Abandoned, Authorities Confirm

Austin Wylie's car was found Wednesday in Philadelphia. Friends have taken to Twitter to spread word of his disappearance.

A Shipley School student has been reported missing after his car was found abandoned in Philadelphia Wednesday, school officials have confirmed.

Austin Wylie's car was found at Fifth and Spring Garden streets in Philadelphia Wednesday and police are investigating, the student's family told Shipley officials.

Wylie is a rising senior at the Bryn Mawr private school.

"The family has confidence that the authorities are doing all that can be done to find him. It is with this in mind that the family requests that we resist any urge to participate in a search," said Steve Piltch, Shipley's Head of School, in an email to the school community. That email was also shared on the school's Facebook page.

Numerous friends have taken to social media to spread the word of the teen's disappearance.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating the teen's disappearance.

Wylie is described by NBC10 as a "standout soccer player" who recently finished his junior year at the Bryn Mawr private school.
