Viewfinder: Young Scientists Wash Cars

Harriton High students conducted a sudsy fundraiser.

Members of 's Science Olympiad team washed, rinsed, and dried cars on the lot at Wark's Sunoco station on Montgomery Avenue in Bala Cynwyd last Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Science Olympiad, a nonprofit, strives to improve the quality of K-12 science education and provide recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers through Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes.

Team Captains Lauren Johnson and Alex Suttle, both seniors, explained that the  team had to raise money to use for travel expenses connected with competitions and to purchase science equipment and materials.
