A Message From State Rep. Brandon Neuman: First-Time Campers—get started!

The lawmaker wants you to know that the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is offering a promotion to first-time campers at participating parks.

Pennsylvania has 117 state parks that are considered the best in the nation and many offer the perfect summer retreat for a family camping vacation.

Now there has never been a better time to try camping for the first time! The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is offering a promotion to first-time campers at participating parks.

For just $20, campers get two nights of camping, equipment rental and hands-on instruction on how to camp by state park expert campers.

The rental includes everything you need for a weekend of camping: a four-person tent, flashlight, tarp, lantern, camp stove, two sleeping pads, two camp chairs, and four hotdog and marshmallow cookers.

Click here to learn more about the promotion and to find a participating state park near you.

In addition, seniors are always eligible for a $4.50 discount off the normal campsite price. You can find your closest state park, prices and other frequently asked questions, as well as make a reservation, at www.dcnr.state.pa.us. Reservations can also be made by calling 1-888-PA-PARKS.

I wish a wonderful summer and as always, welcome your feedback.
