The Titanium Titans Robotics team was started in October 2012 by a partnership between the Creative Learning Collaborative (CLC) and the Peters Township Public Library. The team is open to students in grades 9-12 in the south hills who are interested in hand-on robotic design and engineering. At the 2013 FIRST Pittsburgh Regional Competition on March 15-16 held in the Peterson Events Center, the Titanium Titans won the Rookie Inspiration Award for team organization, recruitment, sponsorship, and team spirit. Their robot, named Atlas, was designed to shoot frisbees a distance of 52 feet, with an adjustable deck for targeting and aiming. In addition the robot was able to lift it's weight and "climb" up one level on a 12 foot metal pyramid.
