Bails said she ran into the kitchen and down into the basement, with Stankiewicz chasing her. The woman said she was able to close and lock an interior door in the basement to get away from Stankiewicz, who reportedly broke that wooden door also.
Bails escaped through a window and ran to a neighbor's house, where she called 911.

When police arrived, Bails told officers that she knew Stankiewicz from working as a peer mentor at a facility in Washington. Although she had previously invited the woman to her home, Bails said she stopped communicating with Stankiewicz because of what she described as her declining mental condition.
According to a police report, officers discovered Stankiewicz in the basement of Bails' home with a boxcutter with the blade retracted.
She cooperated with police, telling them that she hadn't felt well over the past two weeks and that she wanted to "hurt her like she hurt me."
Canonsburg police transported Stabkiewicz to Washington Hospital, where she was admitted, according to a report.
Her preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled, court dockets show.
