Blotter: Man Briefly Jailed for Assault, Hit and Run Reported

Canonsburg police are also investigating the theft of copper from a vacant property.

A man was briefly jailed Sunday for simple assault.

Police had issued a bench warrant for William Chandler, 21, for an incident that occured at his 196 Latimer Ave. home July 11.

Chandler was arraigned before district Judge Jay Weller Sunday and briefly remanded to the Washington County Jail—later posting the required $5,000 bond.

Copper Theft Investigated

are investigating the theft of copper from a vacant borough home on Saturday night.

Clyde Knupp alerted police to the theft of copper piping from the basement of 332 Ridge Ave., where the rear door was pried open and the lock there broken.

"Inside the residence the water was running in the basement where the copper pipes were taken," a police report indicated.

The home is owned by Joe Gowern.

Hit-and-Run Accident Reported

Canonsburg police are investigating a hit-and-run accident from this past weekend.

Jason Weir told police on Saturday morning that someone crashed into his vehicle as it sat outside his 441 Woodlawn Road home.

The vehicle sustained damage to its rear driver's side, according to a report.
