Blotter: Vases Stolen From Cemetery

Canonsburg police are investigating the incident.

Workers at in Canonsburg told police four or five bronze vases "come up missing each year."

But Monday, Elizabeth Smith told police 13 solid bronze vases were stolen from a row of headstones at St. Patrick Cemetery sometime Sunday night.

She told police that each vase is worth about $150.

"Each family is responsible to purchase the vases and when families notice they're gone, they will be calling her to replace them," according to a Canonsburg police report.

Police said officers checked with Canon Mac Metals, where employees indicated nobody had come in the business to scrap the items.

In the meantime, Smith asked for extra patrols in the area.

Criminal mischief reported

Brad Dami, of 112 Colonial Way, told police that someone had shot a BB or pellet gun at the window of his 2004 Dodge truck sometime after 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
