So, for a second part in my social media etiquette collection, I will be writing about the do's and don'ts of twitter.
1.Direct messaging- This is similiar to a Facebook inbox private message you can send someone. Twitter has a feature called 'Direct Messaging' in the upper right hand corner of your screen. I'm not really sure how it happens but sometimes someone's profile will send you a direct message that says, 'spam,' in someones email account. For instance, someone sent me a 'DM' saying, "Yo, I heard Twitter might start to charge in January, sign this to keep the service free!" Some people call it, auto-broadcasting of messages, if you're doing it, STOP!
2. Egghead- When you sign-up for a Twitter account, the default picture that appears is an 'egg.' Please change it to a picture of yourself. Remember, put a face to the name.

3. Speaking of 'name'- Keep your username short as possible, no one wants to read something ridiculous. Plus, keep in mind the 140 character limit. Also, keep this in mind when it comes to your 'tweets': shorter the better.
4. Sharing/Retweeting/#Hashtag- Using hashtags is an important part of using twitter, whether you are trying to get the word out about your local business or your name out there for being an up-and-coming photographer as examples. However, use them carefully and wisely. Using a hashtag is like choosing a subject for your tweet, it helps keep it focused. Hashtags also belong at the end of your tweet. Sharing and retweeting can be a great way to help you advertise and network.

5. Manners people- Don't be 5. I've said it in other etiquette posts: Mind your manners and be civil.
6. More 'Spam'- Sometimes you will run across a person who follows you and just trust me when I say, you'll know. Thousands of followers but no one following them, their profile picture, no tweet posts. Please report them.
7. Enage- When you first get an account, your first initial thought will be, 'I need more followers!' NO, that's not what it's all about, though. It's about networking and engaging in conversation.
8. Who am I?- Be real, be authentic. In the little "about me section," add something! People won't know who you are until you tell them!
So there you go, eight tips of the trade for you Tweeters!
