Eclectic Pittsburgh Bar, Performance Venue To Open West Coast Location

PITTSBURGH, PA — A well-known Pittsburgh bar and performance venue is adding a second location, but it won't be in the city.

Bottlerocket Social Hall, a 1970s-themed tavern and performance space in Allentown that features comedy acts, independent music, punk rock shows and dance parties, is coming to the Pacific Northwest.

Bottlerocket will open in the basement of The Crocodile, a live music and entertainment venue in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. It will take over The Crocodile's basement space that formerly housed two venues: Here-After and Madame Lou's.

The Crocodile announced the move in a Facebook reel featuring Bottlerocket founder and managing director Chris Copen.

“Since the day we bought The Crocodile, we have heard from so many people about how deeply missed Madame Lou’s and the Here-After are, for both performers and guests,” Copen said. “Figuring out the future for the Croc’s basement has been our top priority since day one, and it’s something we wanted to make sure we got absolutely right.”

According to KING-TV in Seattle, the new Bottlerocket is expected to open in March. Like its Pittsburgh counterpart, it will host concerts, comedy shows, dance parties, movie screenings and community events. Bottlerocket will have capacity for about 400 people for concerts and more than 200 for seated comedy shows.

Bottlerocket's Pittsburgh location, which opened in 2022, will remain open.
