Will You Be Wearing a Sweater Next Tuesday?

A celebrated birthday, birthday parties, and how they both connect to your library.

If you didn't know, Fred Rogers was born on March 20th, and the day continues to be celebrated years after his passing.

Now, though, it's called Won’t You Be My Neighbor?Day and it's an annual event (as birthdays tend to be) to celebrate Mr. Rogers and his legacy of neighborliness.

A visit to the website will lead you to several ideas for promoting neighborliness, and naturally, since the Frank Sarris Public Library is your friendly, neighborhood library, we have one or two of our own!

As mentioned in a last month, we are acting as a collection point for the Greater Washington County Food Bank, and we'll continue to gather non-perishable food and grocery products until March 31.

Not only that, but this and every month offers weekly meetings of the Frayed Knots, a group that gathers every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for tea and conversation.

Each member works on the project of her—or his—choosing, so whether you're stitching for yourself, making a gift or crafting for charity, all are welcome to join in.

If Mr. Rogers' birthday isn't the only one you're celebrating, keep us in mind for your child's next birthday bash.

That's right, the library offers a party package for children and the fee includes the cost of two hours of room rental, a selection of party times, program staff to provide 45 minutes of themed activities and more!  Please be sure to check out the brochure for more information—it can be found at the circulation desk or on the library's website (right hand side of the page).
