Canon-Mac Boys Lacrosse Team Slays Dragons
The team won over the Taylor Allderdice Dragons Friday by a score of 18-4.

By Gary Beam
On Friday the 13th, who better to discuss whether or not one believes in good or bad luck than the player who wears jersey #13 on the lacrosse team, Patrick Beam.
He plays starting close defense for the Big Macs and thinks that the number is “cool” adding that he believes that the word luck doesn’t really exist. He would rather replace the term “good luck” with “good fortune” as he feels that one makes his own luck.

He did add, however, that if he scored on Friday the 13th against the Taylor Allderdice Dragons, he might have to rethink his belief, since his style of play on defense rarely brings him near midfield, let alone into an offensive position giving him the possibility of scoring.
No, Beam didn’t score last night, so his belief remains strong, for now. But despite the fact that Beam personally didn’t experience good fortune, the Big Mac team certainly did. Good fortune reigned at Canon Mac Stadium last night as a downpour of goals submerged their opponents by the final score of 18-4.

Big Mac scoring was led by Matt Maletta and Ben Ward who each had six goals and an assist, and Tyler Slovik who chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Maletta’s goals take him to a team-leading 30 on the season and Ward’s seven points give him the team lead in points with 35. The win takes Canon-McMillan’s season record to 7-1 as they prepare to play at Quaker Valley on Monday in an important Division 2-Section 1 showdown.
